Well today has been a day of surprises.. First up someone who I have not heard form for ages got in touch.. Then I won a cartridge expander for the C64 (yey! oonly taken over 20 years to get one!!).

Played about with some software, had a laptop dropped off that needed sorting out so did that.. Got a couple of emails letting me know if I go back offshore then I’m in for another mobilization 🙁

Offered a few more roles today.. When I say offered it’s more like they phone ask if you are interested and then put you forward.. Nothing certain.. And yet they seem surprised when you say your also looking with other people Hmmm 😉

Looks like will have to go into a clients place tomorrow afternoon and sort out something, sucks a bit but I don’t think I can put this off any longer 🙁

Played about with AGW Packet Engine Pro today and some of the other pieces of software, doesn’t seem to be much that supports the Baycom that’s certain now 🙁

Looks likely I will have to build a small interface and use a soundcard (maybe using a USB one?) Anyway bought a couple of cheap USB sound cards so will see if it works with them first as only a quid each hehe..

Found someone selling the Expert Cartridge Floppy disc (don’t know if it is both of them though) so bidding on that right now too.. Fingers crossed 🙄

Finally decided the get Diablo 2 installed and running on this PC so I can play a couple of games if I get the chance.. And what a nightmare that was.. Have to register the games on-line with an account and then download and install them..  But at least you then don’t need the CD’s 🙂

Angel has been painting again and looks pretty darn good too.. Will put the light up tomorrow and see how it looks in there as choose a smaller low profile one to see if can get a better look to it.. I’ll bee honest the rooms look cleaner but they are by no means picture perfect and I don’t think you would get them that way for very long in these old houses anyway. Still looks cool though.

Well Angel again struggled on with the painting in the room at the top of the house today and then in the afternoon I had a play about with the TNC and Baycom modem.. Found out that the Baycom modems are not supported in windows and haven’t been since Windows ME! Opps.. Anyway not only that but seems nowhere near as easy to get on with as I remember.. 🙁 finally manage to get a signal in the office and a good one too then play about with some software on the laptop trying to get it to talk to my IC706 without any luck.. Before finding the baycom is working (from the radio) but not to the laptop.

Spend a couple of hours in the evening working out that I might be better off with a soundcard in a PC rather than bothering with a Baycom modem anyway.. Hmm.. Anyway I will have another play tomorrow.

Was going to go bowling this evening but Tia isn’t too well again.. Not sure what’s going on but she keeps hurting her back and that might be expensive in the long run, doesn’t help that next door as so damn noisy making the dogs cower in the corner all the time or jumpy as hell. So sat in and watched TV on the sofa.. Then had a pizza.. Not exactly what we had planned but hopefully she may be better soon.

I’m beginning to think I’m cursed or something.. If I had no luck I would be better off that’s for sure.

Anyway the TV ordered from DirectTvs turned up today and boy was it a surprise.. Not a pleasant one either, as you can see form these pictures it was a secondhand TV sold to use as NEW, and when Angel phoned to get it returned she was given the run around, I did a bit of checking online and noticed they have a somewhat bad reputation so needless to say I started talking to Consumer Direct and drafted a letter to go off letting them know about the SOGA (Sale Of Goods Act) and in particular the section that talks about “Not as Described”.

Shame really as could have done with that but I’m not going to accept a secondhand TV from them when we paid for a BRAND NEW one.. So in case anyone is wondering –

DirectTVS.co.uk, is certainly a place to steer clear of, I would suggest contacting Consumer Direct straight away and not to wait for them to get something sorted as I have a feeling they will try it on, don’t be afraid of going to court either as I can assure you they will lose, if you have had problems with them don’t wait and certainly don’t write it off as a bad experience do something proactive and also let me know 🙂

Rahl popped round tonight and thought I would shove on a film, so I found “Malice Doll” and stuck that on, has some interesting choices relating to animation (animated like a puppet show for instance, but with CGI techniques) sadly this all lasted approximately 20 mins right up until the point that Malice is attacked by a tentacled monster that puts it places that frankly it shouldn’t… I’m never going to look at an octopus in the same way again.. Shudder… Reminds me of that scene in “Evil Dead”.. Anyway that was the end of that 🙁 Might be a good film might not be but well I don’t think I shall be finding out.

Not much else to add really Angel is still struggling with the room at the top of the house although with any luck we might be getting that sorted before the end of next week and I think that will do for the time being. So be looking to sell and move on.. Next week I’m doing my offshore so I will need to sort out seeing someone about a mortgage when back I guess.. And then.. Well lets see what we see eh?
