Well most of the time has been spent on various projects (jobs).. but I have managed to build Angel her Christmas Present at last and here are some pics and info on the process (although not quiet done yet).
First I found a couple of LED TV’s that were on offer that had a good wide viewing angle (as they would not be face on to the viewer), then a cheap PC and a mid range GFX card with memory and a standard 1Tb hdd, all this was going to be the easy bit for me as well it’s just a PC with knobs on.. So the extra stuff was an I-PAC2 and a LED/LCD driver module and buttons etc for the cabinet… The hardest part of all though was without doubt the cabinet itself. Anyone who knows me will know that I’m completely crap with wood work or any of that manual stuff so this was going to be the challenge to make it look reasonable.
For the sake of strength I decided to go for 18mm ply wood, this would make it very heavy but very strong too.. Of course I needed some more tools, a decent belt sander, drills, metal work, and lots of bolts and glue.. But I think so far it looks ok.. Here it is in various stages -
Right now the outstanding issues are the third screen for scoring, blacking out the back box and at some stage in the future getting a couple of solenoids for the flipper sounds
Didn’t realise you built the cabinet too fella, impressive stuff
Indeed probably the hardest part for me… Wood and metal work I’m pants at.. Still making changes though.. Just made up a simple tilt system out of some wood and wire.. need two more micro switches and then going to shove that in as well so can nudge the machine to get “English” on the ball too
Probably the hardest part is still to come though I need to build the lockdown bar and that’s something I’m really struggling with at the moment, so much so I’m thinking of asking a few friends to make me one out of stainless steel hmm..
