Soon home..

So spend the best part of the day trying to arrange a vessel to pop out and pick me up, dropping off my replacement, then to bed (doing sort of nights-ish).. Anyway get up in the afternoon/evening and they have now decided to try and go for the cable a day earlier, the day I was planning on getting off.. Needless to say I would act surprised but the way my luck is if you ever see me buying a scratch card buy the next one as it will be the winner!

:( Also had a call from the guy coming out to say he will be in the conference call from tomorrow and to phone him to give him an update as to what is happening out here etc.. but not to phone at night! He’s going to have a shock then isn’t he lol..

Not a lot else to add really, no way can bring the guy replacing me forward as he would need to come out in the morning and have only found out myself at 9pm, no way he will have enough time to travel up for the transfer vessel out tomorrow morning :( So.. likely hood now is that I will be stuck on here until Wednesday/Thursday when they have finished the first cable.. MAYBE.. if it takes longer well.. :( I think I have about 6 days of tablets left so I hope I’m off before they run out otherwise it’s going to get very uncomfortable for me :(

Thought of an idea test for my python skills that will be interesting as well.. I’m going to have a stab at a MUD.. Should be interesting at the very least, probably going to go for a simple one first that has look up tables, then I will have a think about using a database and working out the characteristics I need to record like size, shape, weight, speed (might be NCP), features, abilities, level, etc.. And then build an editor to design and add these… The great thing about this is that the locations will also be objects so can make for some interesting uses (like a train carriage that moves).

Right off to work out a simple design first and then learn how to code it, going in a different direction with this ;) I have to remember that coding the C64 used to take weeks to get things right, which reminds me spent awhile looking at the SDM I made on the C64.. ahh the joys of emulation :)
